ST / ST…B Stroke Linear Bearings
ST stroke bearings support rotation together with limited axial movement. The catalogue distinguishes standard ST and heavy-duty ST…B, with documented maximum stroke ranges of 20–132 mm and 8–88 mm respectively.
ST stroke bearings are used where a shaft must both rotate and move through a defined linear stroke. Unlike a conventional recirculating linear bushing designed for unrestricted travel, the ST concept works around a controlled stroke envelope and combines rotational and linear movement in one compact bearing arrangement.
The outline records standard ST models with maximum strokes from 20 to 132 mm, while the heavier ST...B family covers roughly 8 to 88 mm. Nickel-plated versions are noted as an option where additional corrosion protection is required.

Typical Applications
Stroke bearings are relevant to mechanisms such as feed spindles, reciprocating tooling, indexing hardware and compact slides where the same shaft performs both axial and rotational motion. The controlled travel can make the arrangement simpler than using separate rotary and linear bearings.
The required stroke should be treated as a hard design input. Running the mechanism beyond the catalogued travel can damage the ball path or retaining arrangement even if the radial load is modest.
Selection Guide
Define the actual axial travel, shaft diameter, rotational speed and radial load before choosing ST or ST...B. Select a model whose maximum stroke exceeds the working travel with appropriate margin for assembly tolerances and end-position variation.
Use the heavy-duty B family when the catalogue ratings and body geometry better suit the load. Do not choose it only from the word “heavy”; verify the physical stroke because the B series has a different documented range.
Installation & Maintenance
Set mechanical stops so the bearing is not forced beyond its designed travel. Keep the shaft surface smooth across the complete swept area, including zones that are only reached at the ends of stroke.
Inspect for end-of-stroke impact marks, increasing play and roughness during rotation. Those symptoms can point to travel overrun or contamination.
