SC/SCE units move the housing decision out of the customer's machine shop. Instead of purchasing a bare bushing and machining a precise cylindrical pocket, the linear bearing arrives assembled in a block with mounting faces and threaded or clearance holes ready for a carriage plate.

Typical Applications
SC blocks are common in 3D-printing frames, light CNC attachments, packaging equipment, gantry carriages and fixtures where modular construction saves machining time. Long SC…LUU units are helpful on taller carriages or where the plate needs more angular support.
SCE versions are useful for machinery already built around the European dimensional family. When replacing an installed block, photograph the mounting face and measure hole spacing because a same-bore block from another family may not bolt in.
Selection Guide
Pick SC or SCE from the dimensional standard, then choose standard, long or alternate housing geometry. Check shaft diameter, block height, width, bolt pattern and carriage clearance before looking only at C and Co.
If the shaft is supported continuously, compare SBR/TBR open units instead. A closed SC housing is intended for a shaft that can pass through the bearing bore without a support web.
Installation & Maintenance
Mount the block to a flat carriage surface, leave bolts slightly loose during initial alignment, then traverse the axis before final torque. This helps prevent the housing from forcing the shaft sideways.
Check mounting bolts, seals and shaft condition at service intervals. A loose block can damage both the bearing and the carriage plate.
