LM…LUU Long Metric Linear Bearings

LM…LUU is the long metric cylindrical family member of the catalogue linear-bearing range. The extended body adds support length for carriages that need more rigidity than a standard LM bushing can provide. The practical buying question is whether its envelope and mounting style match the shaft, housing and carriage already designed into the machine.

The supplied catalogue places this series on pages 43–44. The documented selection range is d = 6–60 mm. Rather than treating the series code as interchangeable with a similar-looking bushing, confirm the exact diameter family and the mounting geometry before an RFQ is released.

Catalogue note: The source provides model-by-model tables. This import row intentionally keeps the published family limits and field structure; final dimensions, C/Co ratings and mass must be taken from the selected catalogue model rather than inferred from a neighbouring size.

Applications

Long LM are used in tall carriages, vertical slides, measuring fixtures and automation axes where a short bushing would leave too little bearing span.

They can replace a pair of short bushings in some layouts, but the longer shell does not remove the need for a straight, adequately supported shaft.

Selection Guide

Check the available axial housing length before moving from standard LM to LUU. The longer bearing may solve support-span issues but can conflict with shoulders or seals in an existing block.

Use the exact load and dimensional row for the selected bore; never estimate a long-series length by simply doubling the standard LM dimension.

Installation & Maintenance

Use a straight housing bore and press the shell uniformly. Misalignment across the longer contact length can create edge loading sooner than it would in a short bushing.

Inspect the full shaft travel for scoring and binding; a local high spot becomes more noticeable as the supported length increases.

FAQ

What is the main reason to choose LM…LUU?
Choose it when the machine needs the long metric cylindrical family geometry and its documented dimensional family matches the shaft and housing.
Can I select only by shaft diameter?
No. Shaft diameter is the starting point; outside diameter, length, flange or housing form, clearance and the model-specific load data also need to match.
Where should final dimensions come from?
Use the exact model row in the supplied catalogue pages 43–44; do not extrapolate dimensions between sizes.
What should I send for an RFQ?
Send the series/model if known, shaft diameter, housing or flange dimensions, expected load, travel/speed and quantity.
