What is an Induction Motor?
An induction electric motor or asynchronous motor is an AC electric motor in which the electric current in the rotor had a need to produce torque is obtained by electromagnetic induction from the magnetic field of the stator winding.
Working Principle of Induction Motor
We have to give double excitation to create a DC motor to rotate. In the DC motor, we provide one supply to the stator and another to the rotor through brush set up. The flux from the stator cuts the short-circuited coil in the rotor. As the rotor coils are short-circuited, in accordance to Faraday’s legislation of electromagnetic induction, the existing will start moving through the coil of the rotor. When the current through the rotor coils flows, another flux gets produced in the rotor. There are two fluxes, one can be stator flux, and another is certainly rotor flux.
